Health & Safety

Your safety matters more than anything

Working with psychedelics can open spaces of profound healing and insight — especially when held in a safe and supportive container.

Safety first

At Alalaho, your well-being is our first priority.

Every retreat is designed with this in mind: careful preparation, experienced guidance, and protocols that help you feel totally safe, every step of the way.

Our approach to safety

Experienced Facilitators

You’ll be supported by a team of seasoned facilitators and therapists, combining therapeutic expertise with years of experience with psychedelics.

Medical & psychological screening

Before attending, every participant completes a thorough one-on-one screening with one of our therapists, so we can make sure it's safe for everyone who joins us.

Small groups, high support

We keep numbers limited to maintain an intimate, attentive atmosphere. There's at least one guide for every four participants, so everyone gets the support they need.

Integration & aftercare

Support doesn’t end when the retreat does. You’ll have access to ongoing guidance and community as you return to daily life.

what to expect

While psilocybin is non-toxic and non-addictive, it can bring up intense emotions and experiences.

Our retreats are designed to give you a safe space to work through whatever comes up, with direct support from experienced therapists and psychedelic guides.

Who shouldn't attend

Psychedelic retreats are not suitable for everyone.

To protect your safety and the group container, there are certain circumstances in which we can’t welcome participants.

You may not be eligible if you:

  • Have a personal or family history of psychosis (e.g. schizophrenia) or bipolar disorder
  • Are currently experiencing severe mental health difficulties (such as untreated depression or PTSD)
  • Are taking medications that may interact negatively with psilocybin (for example SSRIs or certain antidepressants)
  • Have serious heart conditions or other significant medical concerns

If you’re unsure, our screening process will help us assess together whether this retreat is the right fit.

Getting the right dose

Our psilocybin truffles are legally sourced, tested, and dosed carefully to achieve the safest and most effective experience.

We've refined our ceremony and dosing protocols over 100+ retreats, calibrating the amount to provide a profound experience while keeping safety at the centre.

We stay with you throughout the ceremony, monitoring your experience and adjusting our support as needed.

How we help you prepare for and process your experience

Preparation

We’ll give you clear guidance on how to get ready — practically, mentally, and emotionally.

During the ceremony

You’ll be supported by a team who know the terrain. Whatever comes up — fear, grief, joy, resistance — you won’t face it alone.

After the retreat

We offer integration sessions and resources to help you make sense of your journey and bring your insights back into daily life.

Our health & safety protocols

We maintain clear safety protocols to anticipate and respond to any challenges that may arise.

These have been developed by experienced therapists in collaboration with medical professionals, and have proven to be safe year over year.

Comprehensive screening

Every participant completes a detailed health form and a one-to-one assessment with an experienced facilitator before they're approved to join a retreat.

Together we explore your personal, medical, and psychiatric history to make sure this is right for you. This process is supported by doctors, psychotherapists, and seasoned facilitators who can safely assess the risks for each participant.

A proven programme structure

Our retreat programme has been refined over years to balance depth and safety.

We hold one carefully guided psilocybin ceremony, framed by thorough preparation and 2.5 days of integration.

This rhythm has proven safe and highly effective, giving time for your experience to unfold — and to “land” before you return home.

On-site safety planning

We maintain detailed risk-management protocols that anticipate and respond to potential challenges.

These plans are rarely needed, but always there, regularly updated and shared with our facilitation team, operations staff, and retreat partners, so everyone is aligned and knows how to keep you safe.

Ongoing learning and oversight

While psychedelic work is still emerging as a professional field, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of ethics and safety.

Our facilitators engage in ongoing education and professional development, and receive professional oversight and mentoring following each retreat from a leading London psychotherapist and educator.

If you have more questions or concerns, we’re here for you!

We’d be happy to discuss any questions or concerns you might have. This is a big step, and we want you to feel completely comfortable.
Remember, the psychedelic ceremony is just a beginning, and we’re here to guide you through the bigger journey that unfolds.
